I’m a big Movie Fan. And even though I do not get to the theater to often, (actually only once in the last year), I still follow all the New Releases and the Stars who headline them all.
And the culmination of all this is the excitement once the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Award and the Ultimate…..The Academy Awards begin to be handed out.
Besides following the movies and hoping my favorite stars get nominated, I’m not sure if the awards or Red Carpet is my favorite part. While I get bored of the reporters always asking “Who are you wearing?” I can’t get enough of who made the list of “Best and Worst Dressed.”
While I’m amazed at the gorgeousness of some, I’m also baffled by how some can actually go out of the house thinking they are ready to wear “that” onto the most photographed night in Hollywood.
And I’m sure my mother and I will be calling and emailing each other all night laughing at the Fashion Disasters and praising the beauties who will make the “Best Dressed.” Questioning the woman who suddenly looks around twenty-years younger and cannot move her eyes due to the botox. Or the little extra cleavage coming out of someone’s dress that never used to be there before. It is the spectacle of all of this that my mother and I love so much.
I must admit that I sometimes have quiet satisfaction when an actress I do not like comes out looking like Tammy Fay Baker on her worst day. Once all the actors and actresses finally take their seats after the big “Vomit Fake Fest” called The Red Carpet, I know I am in for a long night.
Their is around a two-hour period in the middle when awards are presented for “Costume”, “Sound Effects”, and a hokey song and dance number, where I wonder why I get so excited about this every year.
But the fact of the matter is, it’s tradition for me and actually this year there are some great movies and actors/actresses that should make it an interesting and fun night.
And even though Ben Affleck, whom I love, was slighted for Best Director in Argo, I will still watch and root for my favorites. Participate in Pools and Surveys on who I think will take the awards home and enjoy all the festivities. After all, this only happens once a year.

LOL we are so much alike when it comes to these award shows.
Love the awards season
Me too!! And they go by way to fast. You would think they would get old, but they never do! Enjoy them!!
I love seeing the people who seem to have been paid millions so that they can go there looking like a carp or bus drivers squashed sandwich
I agree!! That is definitely the best part. You would think someone would warn them they look like crap!!
And there lies the beauty of it!
Yep – a crap carp hehe Is that a trout?
Yes….and I know how much you like fish!!
Haha
Yes fish has it’s plaice, but not at my table.
Argo didn’t make it hey? I thought it was great…
I still have to see this! The movie was nominated but Ben Affleck was not nominated for Best Director. Which everyone said he was a lock for. Boo!!
I love the award shows too!
Aren’t they the best!! Can’t wait to watch the Golden Globes tomorrow!
Love your tradition, love the show as well….it is Movies Supur Bowl!
It sure is!! That is the perfect analogy! Writing this as watching the Red Carpet right now! If you’re watching hope you enjoy!!
I think HD TV makes everyone look not their best.
Isn’t that the truth!
Sure all of them made extra certain they tried to look their best. Some of them kind of failed though!
From the time I was a little kid, my Mom & I watched the Oscars to see who was wearing what.. I kept the tradition going with my girls.. We rate them and like you, am excited to see what comes prancing down the red carpet this year!!
So glad you were able to share that with your mom too. Must be a mom thing!
Something we have done together since I was little. If you are able to watch the Golden Globes and the Red Carpet tonight, hope you enjoy!!
I don’t even know who the nominees are this year… have they even been announced?
They were announced the other day. Lincoln kind have took over the nominations, along with Silver Linings Playbook and Les Miserables. Should be a good show!
I’ve never heard of Silver Linings or Playbook, to be honest LOL But that happens sometimes… you find a good movie that you’ve never heard of when it gets nominated
